Let’s Get Un-Confused About Healthy Eating and Living Together!

For years, my husband has been so patient with me and eating whatever I put in front of him with the caveat that I was confident the food was good for us. He’d smile and trust that I knew what I was doing and always enjoyed the good-tasting dish. Sometimes, he’d looked at me a little questioning and ask “Is this really healthy food?” because it was contrary to the conventional “healthy” and balanced plate of macros. He’s such a good sport!

Oh, yeah “macros”. That’s a fairly new word in the healthy world vocabulary that is popping up all over; one that we didn’t use to see in our nutrition planning. So, what is the meaning of “macros”? It is the complement of the meal broken out in the percentage of fats, proteins, and carbohydrates. Those are the three macros that some diet plans are centered around such as the ketogenic diet which I will talk about in another post soon.

Let Me Introduce Myself

I am jumping ahead of myself. Let me introduce myself to you. I am Christine, contributor to Christine’s Healthy World, which has a counterpart on Facebook as well. This blog is something that I have wanted to do for several years. I’m tickled to get it underway, not because I have so much expert information to share with you, but I’m hoping to get lots of feedback from you, the reader.

I’d love it if you are willing to share your experiences in finding a sustainable lifestyle of healthy eating and living. There is so much information out there that we can help each other to muddle through it all and find what works for us.

“Which Style of Eating Are We Doing Now, Honey?”

It’s been a wild ride over the years of studying so many different paths toward good health – many of which made such good sense to me that I announced to my husband that we are going to be eating this way from now on (“this way” indicating the new revelation that came across my computer screen by way of an email or a YouTube video that grabbed me). Sound familiar? It’s not a chastisement to follow a new methodology but rather an open-mindedness to see what new science has revealed about the inner workings of our bodies.

Our bodies are magnificent and complex creations, and when I hear aspects of nutrition being explained, I marvel at the intricacies and fragile workings of our hormones and chemicals that get triggered by the various components in our food. And for our bodies to be able to continue functioning in a relatively healthy way in spite of the non-food or terrible food we consume, that is a miracle to me.

This Healthy Eating Journey Is Important To All of Us

So, the more I learn and the more I follow different rabbit paths, the more interested I become and the more determined I am to find a long-term solution to eating in such a way that our bodies thrive with energy, burning excess fat along the way, feeding our brains to be able to function keenly, feeling within ourselves that our body “machine” is purring along like a finely-tuned diesel engine going effortlessly uphill.

Keto? Paleo? Vegan? Vegetarian?

In following posts, I’ll describe some of the various eating plans that have embellished our dining table, such as keto, paleo, vegan, and vegetarian, and what results we have noticed.  As I get to know you a little better, I may even feel comfortable sharing some photos with you and hope that you will do the same. You will also see recipes for those yummy meals as well as some of my favorite kitchen tools.

We’ll also talk about some exercises that are quick to do but are very effective; we’ll cover some nutritional facts, and I’ll introduce you to some blogs that I enjoy and from which I get a lot of valuable information. Actually, we may branch out to a lot of topics that I find interesting as well as some that you, the Reader, share info or request more info. I’d like this site to become very interacting together.

Perhaps, some of my challenges have been or are your challenges, too, and together we can figure them out. I’m a student here, too. If you have particular questions you would like to have addressed, please don’t be shy to write them. I will always do my best to answer anyone’s comments or questions and will welcome your input and experiences as well.
