Blog Setup Tasks + Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to All!

As this blog site is a new one, there are a lot of “firsts” that I am exploring to get it set up and to do it correctly. I’ll just share a few things that are happening today. Then I have to dash out and do some Christmas-type stuff.  My husband needed to go out of town until tomorrow.  That gives me some time to do some Christmas sneaky stuff, like shopping and wrapping without him seeing what I’m doing.  Can you relate?

I’m learning more and more about the blog theme that I chose and how to get it set up properly. Wow, there’s a lot of different pieces that need to fit all together for a page to look right and to make sense about the flow and the content that’s contained in it. Right now, it’s not a big deal because it’s so new that there isn’t much content on it yet, but there will be very soon. I have so much to share and talk about that I find myself just wanting to write to you a lot. Until the site is ready, I have to do my homework first.

Today, I installed a new plugin: Shareaholic which allows social media buttons to appear in various places. Of course, it is my hope that you will find an article or a product or a recipe that you feel is worthy of sharing with your friends and followers. I like to do that now myself when I see great material on Facebook, Pinterest, etc to pass it on.

Making Items For Christmas Gifts

Everything has a “first” including my Blog’s First Christmas. What’s Christmas without gifts, DIY crafts and ideas? My friend makes jewelry for gifts which is one of the Holiday gift traditions if you’re stuck for an idea.I have a friend, MyLittleGeneralStore, who is making beautiful jewelry that I just pinned on my Pinterest page. Sherry is one of those super-creative people that turns out lovely things no matter what it is she’s making. Here’s one that I linked to in Pinterest.  I also made a new Pinterest Board called “What My Friends Are Doing”  and I’ll keep pinning items for others in on this Board.

It will probably take a little while to determine if this theme for my blog is just the right one for me. I’m not 100% sold on it yet. Maybe it’s because I still have a lot of work to do on it. I’m learning how to put up the blog from a few different sources, so maybe that’s taking me a little longer. I can’t seem to find one place that says start here, now add this, now add this and soon it’s all complete. We all have different needs for our blog so, I guess, that’s why it’s not feasible to find what I just said I’m looking for. We have to learn how to craft our site to meet our own individual needs. OK, I get it now; I just answered my own question.  🙂

Setup of Blog Is New And Exciting

Years ago, my husband and I prepared many different types of websites. We were knocking them out so easily knowing just what code to put in and where, just what plugins we needed to do what type of function, etc. Now I have a new learning curve as many years have passed; technology has improved and changed since then. All I know is that I enjoy writing to you, and that’s the main thing for me to do right now. My knowledge will increase just by doing.

Let me reiterate here that my hope is to make Christine’s Healthy World a very interactive site between you and me and one that addresses topics that are important to you. Please remember to comment or email me with something that you would like to see here. If you have a post that you would like to put up on this blog, we can do that, too. If you would like to be a guest author or contributor. I welcome that. Just let me know.

As we are just days away from Christmas, let me wish you a very Merry Christmas to you and your family!  If Christmas is not your Holiday, let me wish you and your family a very Happy Holiday! We are all looking forward to a new year, and I wish for all of you a year that fulfills your dreams and goals!
